I loved the ride, but the ending was a big letdown. It really felt like this fight should have been the 2/3 point of the game. No return trip to Vectron, not even really a good explanation for how the primary antagonist was able to craft a powerful mech and harness enough power to literally wipe out the planet. And on top of that, it’s the final boss, the world blows up. You face off against a boss in a pretty good fight although I felt the build up to said boss was a little lacking. I completed the main quest of shutting of the earthquake devices and eagerly went to what I assumed was the end of the second act of the game. I was stressed but I was looking forward to returning to this area in the endgame fully loaded and ready to face whatever horrors awaited me. Indie developer Image & Form has announced that players who manage to complete SteamWorld Dig 2 to 100 will unlock even more content post-game. The game goes from pretty lighthearted to a nightmare landscape very quickly. SteamWorld Dig 2 isn’t over when you complete it. I was downright terrified when you get transported to Vectron. Oh man does this game end wayyyy too soon. I couldn’t get enough, despite the quarantine world we live in I still have to work so I don’t get a ton of time to play games but every chance I had I kept coming back for more. The level design is awesome, the music, the visuals, so much is going so right in this game. I loved how it really enhanced what made the first game enjoyable, the exploration is better, the upgrades really make you feel like you are progressing and getting stronger. I sunk so much time into playing this game in the course of about two weeks.
